Information

Definition: Information is raw data that has been processed into a meaningful word(s) or number(s). Words and values are created for a specific use. That purpose is, decision making. It must be based upon the absolute best set of documentation and reports that can be gathered. Processed data, used for decision making, can be just a key spreadsheet or combination of numbers, a single screen or numerous pages in a repoprt. Unless the infrastructure is secure and robust, malicious users can gain access to compromised data and do harm.

Information Assurance

Its Relevance Truly, without assuring every component of a data processing system and the accompanying network, decision making is precarious at best. Information must be assured.  Information security must be considered a process.  A business or individual must be certain that every step possible has been taken to provide for the confidentiality, integrity and availability of its assets. Otherwise it is vulnerable.
